Plant scientist and coffee sector leader Dr. Sarada Krishnan was recently named executive director of the International Women’s Coffee Alliance.

Born in India to a family that owned a coffee plantation and other crop farms, Krishnan’s interest in plants and biology at an early age eventually blossomed into a M.S. degree in horticulture from Colorado State University followed by influential doctoral research at University of Colorado on conservation genetics of wild coffee.

Food 4 Farmers Appoints First Ever Executive Director, Alyson WelchDaily Coffee News by Roast Magazine

The coffee community-focused nonprofit Food 4 Farmers has hired its first ever executive director, international development expert Alyson Welch.

Welch joins the 10-year-old nonprofit after nearly three years at the Washington D.C.-area international development agency DAI, and more than six years at the internationally focused engineering services firm Tetra Tech.

In positions with those firms, Welch was “responsible for a large portfolio of USAID-funded projects focused on the environment, economic development, governance, and land rights issues,” according to an announcement from Food 4 Farmers, which is based in Burlington, Vermont.

I attempted to bake the Final Fantasy 14 director Yoshi-P’s coffee cookies

I’m not much of a baker, but when I saw that Naoki Yoshida—aka, Yoshi-P, Final Fantasy 14 director and all-round icon—recently spent seven hours baking bizarre-sounding coffee cookies, drinking wine and running some raids on Twitch, I desperately wanted even a nugget of the good vibes Yoshida was radiating.

I tend to spend a lot of my free time drinking wine and playing games anyway, so I was already like, two-thirds of the way there. I just needed to get my hands on Yoshida’s cookie recipe, and thankfully discovered it had already been kindly translated by the wonderful @aitaikimochi on

FFXIV director hits Twitch to share his coffee cookie recipe and drink wine

Just when I thought Final Fantasy XIV‘s director and producer Naoki Yoshida couldn’t get any cooler, he goes and pours himself a glass of wine and starts hosting a cooking show on Twitch. Yes, Yoshi-P went full suburban mom this week, and he is clearly living his best life. If you want in on this incredible lifestyle, he’s even shared his coffee cookie recipe with the world.

These are based on FFXIV’s coffee biscuits, but the stream title has a cookie pun (and maybe a reference to the oft-forgotten NES puzzler Yoshi’s Cookie?) so I’m going with the Americanism

Coffee processing and trading company Swiss Water Decaffeinated has appointed Marisol Pinzon as managing director of trading and development. In the position, which has been newly created by the British Columbia, Canada-based company, Pinzon will lead worldwide sales and trading outside of the European market.

“As Swiss Water continues its strong growth trend, driven by increasing industry and consumer demand for chemical free decaffeination, evolving our structure to best support the needs of our customers is vital,” Swiss Water CEO Frank Dennis said in an announcement of the appointment today.
